Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A dry northeast monsoon is bringing generally fine weather to southern China.

At noon, the tropical depression over the southern part of the South China Sea was centred about 200 kilometres northeast of Nansha. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 18 kilometres per hour in the general direction of the southern part of Vietnam.

Weather forecast for this afternoon and tonight

Sunny periods in the afternoon. Mainly cloudy tonight. Moderate to fresh northerly winds.

Outlook : Windy with sunny periods in the next couple of days. It will be slightly cooler in the morning and at night.

    Weather Situation:
    The northeast monsoon is affecting the south China coastal waters.

    At noon, the tropical depression over the southern part of the South China Sea with maximum sustained winds of about 45 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 11.7 degrees north, 115.6 degrees east. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 18 kilometres per hour in the general direction of the southern part of Vietnam.

    North to northeast force 5 to 6.
    Moderate to rough seas.

    Nan'ao and Shanwei:
    Northeast force 6 to 7.
    Moderate to rough seas.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 290300 UTC, Tropical Depression over the southern part of South China Sea with central pressure 1002 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of one one point six degrees north (11.6 N) one one five point seven degrees east (115.7 E) and is forecast to move west-northwest at about 10 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 25 knots.

    Radius of over 2 metre waves 150 nautical miles over northern semicircle, 60 nautical miles elsewhere.

    One two point eight degrees north (12.8 N)
    One one one point four degrees east (111.4 E)
    Maximum winds 35 knots.

    One three point three degrees north (13.3 N)

    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
