Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A dry northeast monsoon is bringing generally fine weather to southern China. Meanwhile, a band of clouds is covering the coast of eastern Guangdong.

At 4 p.m., the tropical depression over the southern part of the South China Sea was centred about 200 kilometres north-northeast of Nansha. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 18 kilometres per hour in the general direction of the southern part of Vietnam.

Weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow

Mainly cloudy. The minimum temperature will be about 21 degrees in the urban areas tomorrow morning, and a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories. Dry with bright periods during the day with a maximum temperature of around 26 degrees. Moderate to fresh northeasterly winds, strengthening from the east later tomorrow.

Outlook : Windy with sunny periods in the following couple of days. It will be slightly cooler in the morning and at night.

    The northeast monsoon is affecting the south China coastal waters.

    At 4 p.m., the tropical depression over the southern part of the South China Sea with maximum sustained winds of about 45 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 12.2 degrees north, 114.8 degrees east. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 18 kilometres per hour in the general direction of the southern part of Vietnam.

    One or two rain patches.
    Moderate to rough seas.

    Nan'ao and Shanwei:

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 290600 UTC, Tropical Depression over the southern part of South China Sea with central pressure 1002 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of one one point eight degrees north (11.8 N) one one five point one degrees east (115.1 E) and is forecast to move west-northwest at about 10 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 25 knots.

    Radius of over 2 metre waves 150 nautical miles over northern semicircle, 60 nautical miles elsewhere.

    One two point seven degrees north (12.7 N)
    One one zero point eight degrees east (110.8 E)
    Maximum winds 40 knots.
