The northeast monsoon is affecting southern China. Meanwhile, a band of clouds is covering the region.

Tropical Storm Matmo has weakened into a tropical depression. At noon, Matmo was centred about 630 kilometres southeast of Vientiane. It is forecast to move west at about 22 kilometres per hour across Indo-China and dissipate gradually.

Weather forecast for this afternoon and tonight

Bright periods in the afternoon. Mainly cloudy with one or two light rain patches tonight. Moderate to fresh east to northeasterly winds, occasionally strong offshore.

Outlook : Becoming fine in the next few days.

    Weather Situation:
    The northeast monsoon is affecting the south China coastal waters.

    Tropical Storm Matmo has weakened into a tropical depression. At noon, Matmo with maximum sustained winds of about 55 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 13.6 degrees north, 106.3 degrees east. It is forecast to move west at about 22 kilometres per hour across Indo-China and dissipate gradually

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    Tropical Storm Matmo (1922) has weakened into a Tropical Depression with central pressure 998 hectopascals. At 310300 UTC, it was centred within 90 nautical miles of one three point six degrees north (13.6 N) one zero six point four degrees east (106.4 E) and is forecast to move west at about 12 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 30 knots.

    Radius of over 2 metre waves 120 nautical miles.

    No further warnings on this Tropical Depression will be issued by the Hong Kong Observatory unless re-intensification takes place.

    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
