Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A dry northeast monsoon is bringing fine weather to southern China.

Besides, the area of low pressure over the central and southern parts of the South China Sea has intensified into a tropical depression. At 4 p.m., the tropical depression was centred about 370 kilometres north-northeast of Nansha. It is forecast to move east slowly and intensify gradually.

Weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow

Mainly fine. Dry during the day. Temperatures will range between 22 and 27 degrees. Moderate to fresh east to northeasterly winds, occasionally strong offshore overnight.

Outlook : Mainly fine and dry, and it will be windy in the following couple of days. Slightly cooler in the morning and at night.

Gale force winds in Nan'ao and Shanwei. Strong winds in Hong Kong adjacent waters, south of Hong Kong and Shangchuan Dao.

Weather Situation:
The northeast monsoon is affecting the south China coastal waters.

At 7 p.m., the tropical depression over the central and southern parts of the South China Sea with maximum sustained winds of about 55 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 13.6 degrees north, 115.4 degrees east. It is forecast to move east slowly and intensify gradually.

Hong Kong Adjacent Waters:
East to northeast force 5 to 6, occasionally force 7.
Moderate to rough seas.

Nan'ao and Shanwei:
Northeast force 7 to 8.
Rough to very rough seas.

Tropical Cyclone Warning

At 050900 UTC, the tropical depression over the central and southern parts of the South China Sea with central pressure 998 hectopascals was centred within 60 nautical miles of one three point six degrees north (13.6 N) one one five point three degrees east (115.3 E) and is forecast to move east slowly for the next 24 hours.

Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 30 knots.

Radius of over 2 metre waves 210 nautical miles.
