Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A dry northeast monsoon continued to bring fine weather to southern China yesterday. Locally, it was fine and dry. The relative humidity over the territory once fell below 50 per cent in the afternoon. The northeast monsoon is expected to persist over southern China for the rest of this week. It will be windy over the region and slightly cooler in the morning and at night.

Besides, the area of low pressure over the central and southern parts of the South China Sea intensified into a tropical depression yesterday, and was named Nakri. At 11 p.m. last night, Nakri was centred about 380 kilometres north-northeast of Nansha. It is forecast to move east slowly and linger over the central and southern parts of the South China Sea.

Weather forecast for Hong Kong

Mainly fine. The minimum temperature will be about 22 degrees in the urban areas, and a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories. Dry during the day with a maximum temperature of around 27 degrees. Moderate to fresh east to northeasterly winds, occasionally strong offshore at first.

Outlook : Mainly fine and dry, and it will be windy in the following couple of days. Slightly cooler in the morning and at night.

    Weather Situation:
    The northeast monsoon is affecting the south China coastal waters.

    At 11 p.m., Tropical Depression Nakri with maximum sustained winds of about 55 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 13.6 degrees north, 115.6 degrees east. It is forecast to move east slowly and linger over the central and southern parts of the South China Sea.

    East to northeast force 5 to 6, occasionally force 7.
    Moderate to rough seas.

    Nan'ao and Shanwei:
    Northeast force 7 to 8.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 051500 UTC, Tropical Depression Nakri (1924) with central pressure 998 hectopascals was centred within 60 nautical miles of one three point six degrees north (13.6 N) one one five point seven degrees east (115.7 E) and is forecast to move east slowly for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 30 knots.

    Radius of over 2 metre waves 240 nautical miles.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
