A dry northeast monsoon is bringing generally fine weather to southern China.

At noon, Tropical Storm Nakri was centred about 410 kilometres north-northeast of Nansha. It is forecast to be slow-moving, lingering over the central and southern parts of the South China Sea.

Weather forecast for this afternoon and tonight

Fine. Dry in the afternoon. Moderate to fresh east to northeasterly winds.

Outlook : Mainly fine and dry in the next couple of days. Slightly cooler in the morning and at night. It will be windy on Saturday.

    Weather Situation:
    The northeast monsoon is affecting the south China coastal waters.

    At noon, Tropical Storm Nakri with maximum sustained winds of about 65 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 13.5 degrees north, 116.4 degrees east. It is forecast to be slow-moving, lingering over the central and southern parts of the South China Sea.

    Moderate to rough seas.

    Nan'ao:
    Northeast force 6 to 7, occasionally force 8.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 060300 UTC, Tropical Storm Nakri (1924) with central pressure 995 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of one three point five degrees north (13.5 N) one one six point four degrees east (116.4 E) and is forecast to be slow moving for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 35 knots.

    Radius of over 33 knot winds 120 nautical miles over northern semicircle, 60 nautical miles elsewhere.
    Radius of over 2 metre waves 240 nautical miles.

    Maximum winds 50 knots.

They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
