Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A dry northeast monsoon is bringing generally fine weather to southern China. Locally, the relative humidity over many places fell below 50 per cent around noon.

At noon, Severe Tropical Storm Nakri was centred about 470 kilometres northeast of Nansha. It is forecast to be slow-moving, lingering over the central and southern parts of the South China Sea.

Weather forecast for this afternoon and tonight

Fine and dry. Moderate northerly winds, fresh at times.

Outlook : Mainly fine in the next few days. Windy over the weekend with slightly cooler weather in the morning and at night.

    Warnings:
    Gale force winds in Nan'ao. Strong winds in Hong Kong adjacent waters, Shanwei, south of Hong Kong and Shangchuan Dao.

    Weather Situation:
    The northeast monsoon is affecting the south China coastal waters.

    At noon, Severe Tropical Storm Nakri with maximum sustained winds of about 90 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 13.5 degrees north, 117.3 degrees east. It is forecast to be slow-moving, lingering over the central and southern parts of the South China Sea.

    North to northeast force 5 to 6, up to force 7 later.
    Moderate to rough seas.

    Nan'ao:
    Northeast force 6 to 7, occasionally force 8.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 070300 UTC, Severe Tropical Storm Nakri (1924) with central pressure 984 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of one three point five degrees north (13.5 N) one one seven point three degrees east (117.3 E) and is forecast to be slow moving for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 50 knots.

    Radius of over 33 knot winds 150 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 47 knot winds 60 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 2 metre waves 300 nautical miles.

    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
