Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A dry northeast monsoon brought generally fine weather to southern China yesterday. Locally, it was fine and dry. The relative humidity over many places stayed around 40 per cent in the afternoon. The northeast monsoon is expected to bring generally fine weather to southern China today and tomorrow. It will be windy over the region, and slightly cooler in the morning and at night.

Besides, Tropical Storm Nakri intensified into a severe tropical storm yesterday morning. At 11 p.m. last night, Nakri was centred about 440 kilometres northeast of Nansha. It is forecast to be slow-moving, lingering over the central and southern parts of the South China Sea.

Weather forecast for Hong Kong (Friday, 8 Nov 2019)

Fine and dry. The minimum temperature in the morning will be about 21 degrees in the urban areas, and a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories. The maximum temperature will be around 27 degrees during the day. Moderate to fresh north to northeasterly winds, occasionally strong offshore later.

Outlook : Mainly fine in the following few days. Windy over the weekend, slightly cooler in the morning and at night.

    Weather Situation:
    The northeast monsoon is affecting the south China coastal waters.

    At 11 p.m., Severe Tropical Storm Nakri with maximum sustained winds of about 90 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 13.4 degrees north, 117.1 degrees east. It is forecast to be slow-moving, lingering over the the central and southern parts of the South China Sea.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 071500 UTC, Severe Tropical Storm Nakri (1924) with central pressure 984 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of one three point four degrees north (13.4 N) one one seven point one degrees east (117.1 E) and is forecast to be slow moving for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 50 knots.

    Radius of over 33 knot winds 150 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 47 knot winds 60 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 2 metre waves 300 nautical miles.
