Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A dry northeast monsoon is bringing generally fine weather to southern China.

At 5 a.m., Severe Tropical Storm Nakri was centred about 240 kilometres north-northeast of Nansha. It is forecast to move west at about 12 kilometres per hour across the central and southern parts of the South China Sea.

Weather forecast for today

Fine and dry. It will be slightly cooler. The maximum temperature will be around 25 degrees during the day. Moderate to fresh northeasterly winds, strengthening from the east gradually.

Outlook : Mainly fine early to midweek next week with temperatures rising slightly.

Warnings:
Gale force winds in Nan'ao, Shanwei, south of Hong Kong and Shangchuan Dao. Strong winds in Hong Kong adjacent waters.

Weather Situation:
The northeast monsoon is affecting the south China coastal waters.

At 5 a.m., Severe Tropical Storm Nakri with maximum sustained winds of about 110 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 12.5 degrees north, 114.9 degrees east. It is forecast to move west at about 12 kilometres per hour across the central and southern parts of the South China Sea.

Hong Kong Adjacent Waters:
East to northeast force 5 to 6, occasionally force 7.
Moderate to rough seas.

Nan'ao:
Northeast force 7 to 8.
Rough to very rough seas.

Shanwei and South of Hong Kong:

Shangchuan Dao:
North to northeast force 6 to 7, becoming up to force 8.

Tropical Cyclone Warning

At 082100 UTC, Severe Tropical Storm Nakri (1924) with central pressure 975 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of one two point five degrees north (12.5 N) one one four point nine degrees east (114.9 E) and is forecast to move west at about 6 knots for the next 24 hours.

Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 60 knots.

Radius of over 33 knot winds 150 nautical miles.
Radius of over 47 knot winds 90 nautical miles.
Radius of over 2 metre waves 300 nautical miles.

One two point seven degrees north (12.7 N)
One one two point zero degrees east (112.0 E)
Maximum winds 60 knots.

The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
