Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A dry northeast monsoon is bringing generally fine weather to southern China.

At 10 a.m., Severe Tropical Storm Nakri was centred about 230 kilometres north of Nansha. It is forecast to move west at about 12 kilometres per hour across the central and southern parts of the South China Sea.

Weather forecast for today

Fine and dry. Moderate to fresh northeasterly winds, becoming easterlies gradually later, occasionally strong offshore.

Outlook : Mainly fine early to midweek next week with temperatures rising slightly.

Warnings:
Gale force winds in Nan'ao, Shanwei, south of Hong Kong and Shangchuan Dao. Strong winds in Hong Kong adjacent waters.

Weather Situation:
The northeast monsoon is affecting the south China coastal waters.

At 9 a.m., Severe Tropical Storm Nakri with maximum sustained winds of about 110 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 12.5 degrees north, 114.5 degrees east. It is forecast to move west at about 12 kilometres per hour across the central and southern parts of the South China Sea.

Area forecasts for the next 24 hours

Hong Kong Adjacent Waters:
Northeast force 5 to 6, becoming east force 6 to 7.
Moderate to rough seas.

Nan'ao:
Northeast force 7 to 8.
Rough to very rough seas.

Shanwei, South of Hong Kong and Shangchuan Dao:
East to northeast force 6 to 7, occasionally force 8.
Rough to very rough seas.

Tropical Cyclone Warning

At 090000 UTC, Severe Tropical Storm Nakri (1924) with central pressure 975 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of one two point five degrees north (12.5 N) one one four point six degrees east (114.6 E) and is forecast to move west at about 6 knots for the next 24 hours.

Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 60 knots.

Radius of over 33 knot winds 150 nautical miles.
Radius of over 47 knot winds 60 nautical miles.
Radius of over 2 metre waves 300 nautical miles.

They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
