Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A cold front is moving across the coastal areas of Guangdong. The associated intense northeast monsoon will affect the region gradually.

Tropical Storm Kalmaegi has intensified into a severe tropical storm. At 4 p.m., Kalmaegi was centred about 480 kilometres north-northeast of Manila. It is forecast to move northwest at about 10 kilometres per hour towards the vicinity of Luzon Strait.

Weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow

Mainly fine and dry. Cool tomorrow morning with a minimum temperature of around 17 degrees in the urban areas, and a couple of degrees lower in the New Territories. The maximum temperature will be about 23 degrees during the day. Moderate to fresh northerly winds, occasionally strong offshore.

Outlook : Dry with sunny periods in the following couple of days. Cooler on Wednesday morning.

    Weather information for south China coastal waters issued by the Hong Kong Observatory at 4:30 p.m. on 18 November 2019

    Warnings:
    Gale force winds in Nan'ao. Strong winds in Hong Kong adjacent waters, Shanwei, south of Hong Kong and Shangchuan Dao.

    Weather Situation:
    The cold front is crossing the coastal waters of Guangdong, and the associated intense northeast monsoon will affect the region gradually.

    Tropical Storm Kalmaegi has intensified into a Severe Tropical Storm. At 4 p.m., Kalmaegi with maximum sustained winds of about 90 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 18.3 degrees north, 123.1 degrees east. It is forecast to move northwest at about 10 kilometres per hour towards the vicinity of Luzon Strait.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    Tropical Storm Kalmaegi (1926) has intensified into a Severe Tropical Storm with central pressure 984 hectopascals. At 180600 UTC, it was centred within 60 nautical miles of one eight point one degrees north (18.1 N) one two three point one degrees east (123.1 E) and is forecast to move northwest at about 5 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 50 knots.

    Radius of over 33 knot winds 90 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 47 knot winds 60 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 2 metre waves 180 nautical miles.

    One eight point four degrees north (18.4 N)
    One two one point two degrees east (121.2 E)
    Maximum winds 50 knots.

    One five point two degrees north (15.2 N)

    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
