Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A dry northeast monsoon brought generally fine weather to southern China yesterday. Locally, it was mainly fine and dry. As the northeast monsoon moderates in the next few days, temperatures over Guangdong will rise gradually.

Besides, Severe Tropical Storm Kalmaegi weakened gradually into an area of low pressure over Luzon yesterday. The area of low pressure over the seas east of the Philippines intensified gradually into a tropical storm yesterday and was named Fung-wong. At 11 p.m. last night, Fung-wong was centred about 680 kilometres northeast of Manila. It is forecast to move northwest at about 18 kilometres per hour towards the vicinity of Luzon Strait.

Weather forecast for Hong Kong

Mainly fine. The minimum temperature in the morning will be about 20 degrees in the urban areas, and a few degrees lower in the New Territories. Dry during the day with a maximum temperature of around 25 degrees. Moderate east to northeasterly winds, occasionally fresh offshore.

Outlook : Mainly fine, dry during the day with temperatures rising gradually in the following couple of days.

    Warnings:
    Gale force winds in Nan'ao. Strong winds in Hong Kong adjacent waters, Shanwei, south of Hong Kong and Shangchuan Dao.

    Weather Situation:
    The northeast monsoon is affecting the south China coastal waters.

    At 11 p.m., Tropical Storm Fung-wong with maximum sustained winds of about 65 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 18.6 degrees north, 125.7 degrees east. It is forecast to move northwest at about 18 kilometres per hour towards the vicinity of Luzon Strait.

    East to northeast force 4 to 5, occasionally force 6.
    Moderate to rough seas.

    Nan'ao:
    Northeast force 6 to 7, occasionally force 8.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    Tropical Storm Kalmaegi (1926) has weakened into a Tropical Depression with central pressure 998 hectopascals. At 200300 UTC, it was centred within 90 nautical miles of one seven point zero degrees north (17.0 N) one two one point two degrees east (121.2 E) and is forecast to move southwest at about 16 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 30 knots.

    Radius of over 2 metre waves 120 nautical miles.

    No further warnings on this Tropical Depression will be issued by the Hong Kong Observatory unless re-intensification takes place.

    Dissipated over land.



    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
