Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The northeast monsoon is bringing generally fine weather to southern China.

At 8 a.m., Severe Tropical Storm Fung-wong was centred about 550 kilometres east-southeast of Gaoxiong. It is forecast to move northwest or north-northwest at about 12 kilometres per hour towards the seas east of Taiwan.

Weather forecast for today

Fine. Dry during the day with a maximum temperature of around 25 degrees. Moderate east to northeasterly winds, fresh offshore at first.

Outlook : Mainly fine, dry during the day with temperatures rising gradually in the next couple of days.

    The northeast monsoon is affecting the south China coastal waters.

    At 9 a.m., Severe Tropical Storm Fung-wong with maximum sustained winds of about 105 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 20.2 degrees north, 124.7 degrees east. It is forecast to move northwest or north-northwest at about 12 kilometres per hour towards the seas east of Taiwan.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 210000 UTC, Severe Tropical Storm Fung-wong (1927) with central pressure 980 hectopascals was centred within 60 nautical miles of two zero point one degrees north (20.1 N) one two four point eight degrees east (124.8 E) and is forecast to move northwest or north-northwest at about 6 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 55 knots.

    Radius of over 33 knot winds 120 nautical miles over northern semicircle, 90 nautical miles elsewhere.
    Radius of over 47 knot winds 45 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 2 metre waves 240 nautical miles.

    Two two point one degrees north (22.1 N)
    One two three point one degrees east (123.1 E)
    Maximum winds 45 knots.

    Forecast position and intensity at 230000 UTC
    Two five point five degrees north (25.5 N)

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    Tropical Storm Kalmaegi (1926) has weakened into a Tropical Depression with central pressure 998 hectopascals. At 200300 UTC, it was centred within 90 nautical miles of one seven point zero degrees north (17.0 N) one two one point two degrees east (121.2 E) and is forecast to move southwest at about 16 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 30 knots.

    Radius of over 2 metre waves 120 nautical miles.

    No further warnings on this Tropical Depression will be issued by the Hong Kong Observatory unless re-intensification takes place.

    Dissipated over land.



    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
