Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A dry northeast monsoon is bringing generally fine weather to southern China.

At noon, Severe Tropical Storm Fung-wong was centred about 470 kilometres east-southeast of Gaoxiong. It is forecast to move northwest or north-northwest at about 12 kilometres per hour towards the seas east of Taiwan.

Weather forecast for this afternoon and tonight

Fine and dry. Moderate east to northeasterly winds.

Outlook : Fine with temperatures rising gradually in the next couple of days. Temperature difference between day and night will be relatively large over inland areas.

    Strong winds in Nan'ao, Shanwei, south of Hong Kong and Shangchuan Dao.

    Weather Situation:
    The northeast monsoon is affecting the south China coastal waters.

    At noon, Severe Tropical Storm Fung-wong with maximum sustained winds of about 110 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 20.7 degrees north, 124.3 degrees east. It is forecast to move northwest or north-northwest at about 12 kilometres per hour towards the seas east of Taiwan.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 210600 UTC, Severe Tropical Storm Fung-wong (1927) with central pressure 975 hectopascals was centred within 60 nautical miles of two zero point seven degrees north (20.7 N) one two four point three degrees east (124.3 E) and is forecast to move north-northwest at about 6 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 60 knots.

    Radius of over 33 knot winds 90 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 47 knot winds 45 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 2 metre waves 180 nautical miles.

    Forecast position and intensity at 220600 UTC
    Two three point three degrees north (23.3 N)
    One two three point six degrees east (123.6 E)
    Maximum winds 40 knots.

    Dissipated over sea.

They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
