Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A trough of low pressure is affecting the coastal areas of Guangdong. Locally, there were showers in the morning. Temperatures over the territory were generally five to six degrees lower than those of yesterday.

Weather forecast for today

Cloudy to overcast with occasional showers and one or two thunderstorms. Temperatures will linger around 20 degrees during the day. Moderate to fresh north to northeasterly winds.

Outlook : Still some rain tomorrow. Weather improving gradually during the Easter Holiday.

range of fluctuation of the background radiation level in
Hong Kong (see Note). The average dose rates measured at the
radiation monitoring stations over various parts of the

    1. From readings taken at various locations in Hong Kong during
the period 1987-2016, the background ambient gamma radiation
levels may vary between 0.06 and 0.30 microsievert per hour.

    2. The extent of health effects to a person as a result of
exposure to radiation is expressed by a physical quantity
called equivalent dose, in unit of sievert.  Protective
action may be required if there is an increase in the
ambient gamma dose rate above background such that the total
additional dose is expected to exceed 5000 microsieverts in
a relatively short period of time. For example, a dose of
5000 microsieverts may be reached when the ambient gamma
dose rate is 1000 microsieverts per hour (several thousand
times above background) and lasts for 5 hours.

    3. The readings of ambient gamma radiation level from
instrument are expressed in unit of gray, which is
numerically equal to the gamma dose expressed in sievert.
