A broad band of clouds is covering Guangdong.

At 10 a.m., the tropical depression over the seas east of the Philippines was centred about 730 kilometres east-southeast of Manila. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 20 kilometres per hour towards the central part of the Philippines.

Weather forecast for today

Mainly cloudy with one or two showers. Sunny intervals in the afternoon. There will be coastal mist at night. Light to moderate southeasterly winds.

Outlook : Warm with sunny periods in the next couple of days. There will be coastal fog in the morning and at night.

Weather Situation:
A southeasterly airstream is generally affecting the south China coastal waters.

At 9 a.m., the tropical depression over the seas east of the Philippines with maximum sustained winds of about 45 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 11.1 degrees north, 126.9 degrees east. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 20 kilometres per hour towards the central part of the Philippines.

Note
  1. From readings taken at various locations in Hong Kong during the period 1987-2016, the background ambient gamma radiation levels may vary between 0.06 and 0.30 microsievert per hour.
  2. The extent of health effects to a person as a result of exposure to radiation is expressed by a physical quantity called equivalent dose, in unit of sievert. Protective action may be required if there is an increase in the ambient gamma dose rate above background such that the total additional dose is expected to exceed 5000 microsieverts in a relatively short period of time. For example, a dose of 5000 microsieverts may be reached when the ambient gamma dose rate is 1000 microsieverts per hour (several thousand times above background) and lasts for 5 hours.
  3. The readings of ambient gamma radiation level from instrument are expressed in unit of gray, which is numerically equal to the gamma dose expressed in sievert.
