Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A southerly airstream is affecting the coast of Guangdong. Locally, temperatures in some areas rose to about 30 degrees in the afternoon.

At 4 p.m, the tropical depression in the vicinity of the Philippines was centred about 350 kilometres south-southeast of Manila. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 25 kilometres per hour across the central part of the Philippines.

Weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow

Mainly cloudy with coastal mist overnight. Sunny periods tomorrow with temperatures ranging between 24 and 30 degrees. Light to moderate south to southwesterly winds.

Outlook : Sunny periods in the following couple of days. Showers in the latter part of this week.

    A southeasterly airstream is affecting the south China coastal waters.

    At 4 p.m., Tropical Depression in the vicinity of the Philippines with maximum sustained winds of about 45 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 11.6 degrees north, 122.3 degrees east. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 25 kilometres per hour across the central part of the Philippines.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 160600 UTC,the tropical depression in the vicinity of the Philippines with central pressure 1002 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of one one point four degrees north (11.4 N) one two two point eight degrees east (122.8 E) and is forecast to move west-northwest at about 14 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 25 knots.

    Radius of over 2 metre waves 60 nautical miles.

    Dissipated over sea.



    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.

    1. From readings taken at various locations in Hong Kong during
the period 1987-2016, the background ambient gamma radiation
levels may vary between 0.06 and 0.30 microsievert per hour.

    2. The extent of health effects to a person as a result of
exposure to radiation is expressed by a physical quantity
called equivalent dose, in unit of sievert.  Protective
action may be required if there is an increase in the
ambient gamma dose rate above background such that the total
additional dose is expected to exceed 5000 microsieverts in
a relatively short period of time. For example, a dose of
5000 microsieverts may be reached when the ambient gamma
dose rate is 1000 microsieverts per hour (several thousand
times above background) and lasts for 5 hours.

    3. The readings of ambient gamma radiation level from
instrument are expressed in unit of gray, which is
numerically equal to the gamma dose expressed in sievert.
