Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

Under the influence of the winter monsoon, temperatures over Hong Kong this morning were generally two to three degrees lower than those of yesterday. As the cold air inland continues to extend southwards, temperatures over the coast of Guangdong will drop further tonight.

Besides, the area of low pressure over the seas east of the Philippines has intensified into a tropical depression. At 10 a.m., the tropical depression was centred about 1950 kilometres east-southeast of Manila. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 16 kilometres per hour towards the southern part of the Philippines.

Weather forecast for today

Mainly cloudy and dry with sunny periods. Temperatures will drop at night. Moderate to fresh northerly winds, occasionally strong on high ground.

Outlook : Mainly fine with cold morning tomorrow. Temperatures rising towards the Lunar New Year.
