Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The winter monsoon affected southern China yesterday. Locally, it was mainly cloudy and dry with sunny periods during the day. Temperatures over most parts of the territory in the afternoon were about four degrees lower than those of the day before. Under the influence of the monsoon, it is expected to be cold and dry over the coastal areas of Guangdong today. With the monsoon being replaced by a humid easterly airstream, temperatures will rise progressively over the region midweek this week. Humid and foggy weather will persist to the Lunar New Year.

Besides, the area of low pressure over the seas east of the Philippines intensified into a tropical depression yesterday and was named Sanba. At 11 p.m. last night, Sanba was centred about 1630 kilometres east-southeast of Manila. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 25 kilometres per hour towards the southern part of the Philippines.

Weather forecast for Hong Kong

Cloudy periods in the morning. It will be cold. The minimum temperature will be about 12 degrees. Mainly fine and dry during the day with a maximum temperature of around 18 degrees. Moderate north to northeasterly winds, fresh at times.

Outlook : Temperatures will rise progressively midweek this week. The weather will become humid and foggy and persist to the Lunar New Year.
