Weather Situation:
An easterly airstream is affecting the south China coastal waters.

At 9 a.m., the tropical depression over the central part of the South China Sea with maximum sustained winds of about 45 kilometres per hour near its centre was located near 15.8 degrees north, 110.5 degrees east. It is forecast to move north slowly towards the vicinity of Hainan Island.

Area forecasts for the next 24 hours

Hong Kong Adjacent Waters:
East force 5 to 6.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms.
Moderate to rough seas.

Nan'ao and Shanwei:
East to southeast force 5 to 6.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms.
Moderate to rough seas.

South of Hong Kong:
East force 5 to 6.
Scattered squally showers and thunderstorms.
Moderate to rough seas.

Shangchuan Dao:
East force 5 to 6, becoming force 7 later.
Frequent heavy squally showers and thunderstorms.
Moderate to rough seas.

II.  SYNOPSIS OF THE WEATHER SITUATION :
     AN EASTERLY AIRSTREAM IS AFFECTING THE COAST OF
     GUANGDONG.
     AT 11 P.M., THE TROPICAL DEPRESSION OVER THE
     CENTRAL PART OF THE SOUTH CHINA SEA WAS LOCATED
     AT 15.3 DEGREES NORTH, 110.8 DEGREES EAST. IT IS
     FORECAST TO MOVE NORTH AT ABOUT 5 KNOTS TOWARDS
     THE VICINITY OF HAINAN ISLAND.
