Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

Showers are affecting the coast of Guangdong and the northern part of the South China Sea. Locally, showers brought more than 10 millimetres of rainfall to many places this morning.

At 5 a.m., the tropical depression over the central part of the South China Sea was centred about 160 kilometres west of Xisha. It is forecast to move north at about 8 kilometres per hour towards the vicinity of Hainan Island.

Weather forecast for today

Mainly cloudy with showers and a few squally thunderstorms. The maximum temperature will be around 30 degrees. Moderate to fresh east to southeasterly winds, occasionally strong offshore.

Outlook : There will be squally showers and thunderstorms in the next couple of days.

II.  SYNOPSIS OF THE WEATHER SITUATION :
     AN EASTERLY AIRSTREAM IS AFFECTING THE COAST OF
     GUANGDONG.
     AT 11 P.M. LAST NIGHT, THE TROPICAL DEPRESSION
     OVER THE CENTRAL PART OF THE SOUTH CHINA SEA WAS
     LOCATED NEAR 16.0 DEGREES NORTH, 110.6 DEGREES
     EAST. IT IS FORECAST TO MOVE NORTH SLOWLY
     TOWARDS THE VICINITY OF HAINAN ISLAND.

The Airport Meteorological Office is responsible for monitoring hazardous weather and phenomena in the atmosphere that may affect the safety of aircraft operations within a designated airspace over the northern part of the South China Sea. Weather forecasters at the Airport Meteorological Office issues SIGMET information when hazardous weather and phenomena in the atmosphere such as thunderstorms, tropical cyclones, turbulence, icing occur or are expected to occur in the airspace.
