Warnings:
Gale force winds in Shangchuan Dao. Strong winds in Hong Kong adjacent waters, Nan'ao, Shanwei and south of Hong Kong.

Weather Situation:
The tropical depression over Leizhou Peninsula has intensified into a tropical storm and was named Ewiniar. At 10 a.m., Tropical Storm Ewiniar with maximum sustained winds of about 65 kilometres per hour near its centre was located near 20.4 degrees north, 110.2 degrees east. It is forecast to be slow-moving.

Area forecasts for the next 24 hours

Hong Kong Adjacent Waters:
East to southeast force 5 to 6, occasionally force 7.
Scattered squally showers and thunderstorms. Showers will be heavy at times.
Moderate to rough seas.

Nan'ao, Shanwei and South of Hong Kong:
East to southeast force 5 to 6, occasionally force 7.
Scattered squally showers and thunderstorms.
Moderate to rough seas.

Shangchuan Dao:
South to southeast force 7 to 8.
Frequent heavy squally showers and thunderstorms.
Rough to very rough seas.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin

Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The Standby Signal, No. 1 is in force.

At 11 a.m., Tropical Storm Ewiniar was estimated to be about 470 kilometres west-southwest of Hong Kong (near 20.2 degrees north 110.2 degrees east) and is forecast to be slow-moving.

Tropical Cyclone Warning

Tropical Depression over the northern part of South China Sea (1804) has intensified into a Tropical Storm with central pressure 995 hectopascals and was named as Ewiniar. At 060000 UTC, it was centred within 90 nautical miles of two zero point five degrees north (20.5 N) one one zero point two degrees east (110.2 E) and is forecast to be slow moving for the next 24 hours.

Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 35 knots.

Radius of over 33 knot winds 30 nautical miles.
Radius of over 2 metre waves 90 nautical miles.

One one zero point nine degrees east (110.9 E)
Maximum winds 40 knots.

The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
