Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The squally showers associated with Tropical Cyclone Ewiniar affected the south China coast yesterday. Locally, it was cloudy with heavy squally showers and thunderstorms. More than 70 millimetres of rainfall were recorded in many places, and rainfall even exceeded 150 millimetres over the northeastern part of the New Territories. The squally showers associated with Ewiniar will continue to affect the south China coast in the next couple of days.

Weather forecast for Hong Kong (Thursday, 7 Jun 2018)

Cloudy with squally showers and thunderstorms. Showers will be heavy at times. Temperatures will range between 26 and 29 degrees. Moderate to fresh east to southeasterly winds, occasionally strong offshore and on high ground. There will be swells.

Outlook : Squally showers and thunderstorms on Friday. Still a few showers over the weekend.

Gale force winds in Shangchuan Dao. Strong winds in Hong Kong adjacent waters, Nan'ao, Shanwei and south of Hong Kong.

Weather Situation:
At 11 p.m., Tropical Storm Ewiniar with maximum sustained winds of about 65 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 20.0 degrees north, 111.0 degrees east. It is forecast to be slow-moving and linger in the vicinity of Leizhou Peninsula.

East to southeast force 5 to 6, occasionally force 7.
Scattered squally showers and thunderstorms. Showers will be heavy at times.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin

Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The Standby Signal, No. 1 is in force.

At midnight, Tropical Storm Ewiniar was estimated to be about 410 kilometres southwest of Hong Kong (near 20.0 degrees north 111.1 degrees east) and is forecast to move north or north-northeast at about 10 kilometres per hour edging closer to the coast of western Guangdong.

Tropical Cyclone Warning

At 061500 UTC, Tropical Storm Ewiniar (1804) with central pressure 995 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of two zero point zero degrees north (20.0 N) one one one point zero degrees east (111.0 E) and is forecast to move north or north-northeast at about 4 knots for the next 24 hours.

Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 35 knots.

Radius of over 33 knot winds 30 nautical miles.
Radius of over 2 metre waves 90 nautical miles.
