Warnings:
Gale force winds in Shangchuan Dao. Strong winds in Hong Kong adjacent waters, Nan'ao, Shanwei and south of Hong Kong.

Weather Situation:
At 5 a.m., Tropical Storm Ewiniar with maximum sustained winds of about 65 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 20.5 degrees north, 111.3 degrees east. It is forecast to move north or north-northeast at about 10 kilometres per hour edging closer to the coast of western Guangdong.

Area forecasts for the next 24 hours

Hong Kong Adjacent Waters:
East to southeast force 5 to 6, occasionally force 7.
Scattered squally showers and thunderstorms. Showers will be heavy at times.
Moderate to rough seas.

Nan'ao and Shanwei:
East to southeast force 5 to 6.

South of Hong Kong:
Southeast force 5 to 6, occasionally force 7.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin

Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The Standby Signal, No. 1 is in force.

This means that a tropical cyclone now centred within about 800 kilometres of Hong Kong may affect us.

At 6 a.m., Tropical Storm Ewiniar was estimated to be about 350 kilometres west-southwest of Hong Kong (near 20.6 degrees north 111.3 degrees east) and is forecast to move north or north-northeast at about 10 kilometres per hour edging closer to the coast of western Guangdong.

Tropical Cyclone Warning

At 062100 UTC, Tropical Storm Ewiniar (1804) with central pressure 995 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of two zero point five degrees north (20.5 N) one one one point three degrees east (111.3 E) and is forecast to move north or north-northeast at about 5 knots for the next 24 hours.

Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 35 knots.

Radius of over 33 knot winds 30 nautical miles.
Radius of over 2 metre waves 90 nautical miles.

Two two point two degrees north (22.2 N)
One one one point five degrees east (111.5 E)
Maximum winds 35 knots.

The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
