During the past hour the mean UV Index recorded at King's Park was 2. The intensity of UV radiation was low.

Gusts reaching 70 kilometres per hour or above may continue to affect Hong Kong.

    Warnings:
    Gale force winds in Shangchuan Dao. Strong winds in Hong Kong adjacent waters, Nan'ao, Shanwei and south of Hong Kong.

    Weather Situation:
    At 9 a.m., Tropical Storm Ewiniar with maximum sustained winds of about 65 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 20.9 degrees north, 111.3 degrees east, it is forecast to move north or north-northeast at about 10 kilometres per hour edging closer to the coast of western Guangdong.

    Hong Kong Adjacent Waters:
    East to southeast force 5 to 6, occasionally force 7.
    Scattered squally showers and thunderstorms. Showers will be heavy at times.
    Moderate to rough seas.

    Nan'ao and Shanwei:

    Moderate to rough seas.

    South of Hong Kong:
    South to southeast force 5 to 6, occasionally force 7.

    Tropical Cyclone Warnings

    Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin

    Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

    The Standby Signal, No. 1 is in force.

    This means that a tropical cyclone now centred within about 800 kilometres of Hong Kong may affect us.

    At 10 a.m., Tropical Storm Ewiniar was estimated to be about 340 kilometres west-southwest of Hong Kong (near 20.9 degrees north 111.3 degrees east) and is forecast to move north or north-northeast at about 10 kilometres per hour edging closer to the coast of western Guangdong.

    According to the present forecast track, Ewiniar will edge closer to Hong Kong during the day today. Local winds are expected to strengthen. The rainbands associated with Ewiniar will continue to bring squalls and heavy showers to Hong Kong. The Observatory will consider issuing the Strong Wind Signal, No.3 before 2 p.m.

    Outer rainbands associated with Ewiniar will still bring showers and squalls to the coast of Guangdong in the next couple of days.

    1. Precautions should be taken. Windows and doors should be checked.

    2. Drains should be cleared of leaves and rubbish. People in low-lying areas should take precautions against flooding.

    3. There may be swells, you are advised to stay away from the shoreline.

    4. People planning to visit Guangdong, Macau, outlying islands or remote parts of Hong Kong should note that changes in weather may affect your trips.

    5. Listen to radio, watch TV or browse the Hong Kong Observatorys website and mobile app for latest information on the tropical cyclone.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 070000 UTC, Tropical Storm Ewiniar (1804) with central pressure 995 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of two zero point eight degrees north (20.8 N) one one one point three degrees east (111.3 E) and is forecast to move north or north-northeast at about 5 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 35 knots.

    Radius of over 33 knot winds 30 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 2 metre waves 90 nautical miles.

    One one one point five degrees east (111.5 E)
    Maximum winds 35 knots.

    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
