Warnings:
Gale force winds in Shangchuan Dao. Strong winds in Hong Kong adjacent waters, Nan'ao, Shanwei and south of Hong Kong.

Weather Situation:
At 7 p.m., Tropical Storm Ewiniar with maximum sustained winds of about 75 kilometres per hour near its centre was located near 21.4 degrees north, 111.7 degrees east. It is forecast to move north or north-northeast at about 10 kilometres per hour edging closer to the coast of western Guangdong.

Area forecasts for the next 24 hours

Hong Kong Adjacent Waters:
South to southeast force 5 to 6.
Scattered squally showers and thunderstorms. Showers will be heavy at times.
Moderate to rough seas.

Nan'ao and Shanwei:
East to southeast force 5 to 6.
Scattered squally showers and thunderstorms.
Moderate to rough seas.

South of Hong Kong:
South to southeast force 5 to 6, occasionally force 7.
Frequent heavy squally showers and thunderstorms.

Shangchuan Dao:

Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin

Here is the latest Tropical Cyclone Warning Bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 is in force.

This means that winds with mean speeds of 41 to 62 kilometres per hour are expected.

At 10 p.m., Tropical Storm Ewiniar was estimated to be about 250 kilometres west-southwest of Hong Kong (near 21.6 degrees north 111.9 degrees east) and is forecast to move north or north-northeast slowly, lingering over the coast of western Guangdong.

Tropical Cyclone Warning

At 071200 UTC, Tropical Storm Ewiniar (1804) with central pressure 990 hectopascals was centred within 60 nautical miles of two one point six degrees north (21.6 N) one one one point nine degrees east (111.9 E) and is forecast to move north or north-northeast slowly for the next 24 hours.

Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 40 knots.

Radius of over 33 knot winds 30 nautical miles.
Radius of over 2 metre waves 150 nautical miles.

Forecast position and intensity at 081200 UTC
Two three point zero degrees north (23.0 N)
One one one point nine degrees east (111.9 E)
Maximum winds 30 knots.

Forecast position and intensity at 091200 UTC
Dissipated over land.




The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
