Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A broad trough of low pressure is bringing unsettled weather to the northern and central parts of the South China Sea. Meanwhile, the band of clouds covering Guangdong is thinning out gradually.

At noon, Tropical Depression Gaemi was centred about 80 kilometres east-southeast of Tainan. It is forecast to move northeast at about 15 kilometres per hour across Taiwan and enter the western North Pacific.

Weather forecast for this afternoon and tonight

Mainly cloudy with sunny intervals. There will be isolated showers. Moderate northeasterly winds.

Outlook : Sunny periods tomorrow. Unsettled with occasional showers in the following couple of days.

    Warnings:
    Gale force winds in Nan'ao. Strong winds in Hong Kong adjacent waters, Shanwei, south of Hong Kong and Shangchuan Dao.

    Weather Situation:
    A broad trough of low pressure is bringing unsettled weather to the south China coastal waters.

    At noon, Tropical Depression Gaemi with maximum sustained winds of about 55 kilometres per hour near its centre was located at 22.7 degrees north, 120.9 degrees east. It is forecast to move northeast at about 15 kilometres per hour across Taiwan and enter the western North Pacific.

    Hong Kong Adjacent Waters:
    Northeast force 5 to 6, up to force 7 overnight.
    Isolated squally showers and thunderstorms.
    Moderate to rough seas.

    Nan'ao:
    Northeast force 6 to 7, occasionally force 8.

    Shanwei:
    Northeast force 6 to 7.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 150300 UTC, Tropical Depression Gaemi (1806) with central pressure 992 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of two two point seven degrees north (22.7 N) one two zero point eight degrees east (120.8 E) and is forecast to move northeast at about 8 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 30 knots.

    Radius of over 2 metre waves 90 nautical miles.

    Forecast position and intensity at 160300 UTC
    Become extratropical low.



    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
