Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

An easterly airstream is affecting the coast of Guangdong. Meanwhile, a broad trough of low pressure is bringing unsettled weather to the northern and central parts of the South China Sea.

At 8 a.m., Tropical Depression Gaemi was centred about 100 kilometres west-northwest of Okinawa. It is forecast to move northeast at about 30 kilometres per hour across the western North Pacific and evolve into an extratropical cyclone gradually.

Weather forecast for today

Sunny periods. The maximum temperature will be about 30 degrees. Moderate to fresh east to northeasterly winds, occasionally strong offshore later.

Outlook : The weather will be unsettled with occasional showers in the next couple of days. Becoming brighter and hot midweek next week.

    Weather Situation:
    A broad trough of low pressure is bringing unsettled weather to the south China coastal waters.

    At 9 a.m., Tropical Depression Gaemi with maximum sustained winds of about 55 kilometres per hour near its centre was located near 26.8 degrees north, 127.1 degrees east. It is forecast to move northeast at about 30 kilometres per hour across the western North Pacific and evolve into an extratropical cyclone gradually.

    East to northeast force 5 to 6, occasionally force 7.
    Isolated showers.
    Moderate to rough seas.

    Northeast force 6 to 7.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 151800 UTC, Tropical Depression Gaemi (1806) with central pressure 992 hectopascals was centred within 90 nautical miles of two five point nine degrees north (25.9 N) one two five point six degrees east (125.6 E) and is forecast to move northeast at about 15 knots for the next 12 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 30 knots.

    Radius of over 2 metre waves 120 nautical miles.

    No further warnings on this Tropical Depression will be issued by the Hong Kong Observatory unless it re-enters the Hong Kong area of responsibility.

    Become extratropical low.



    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
