At 1 p.m. at the Hong Kong Observatory the air temperature was 33 degrees Celsius and the relative humidity 65 per cent.
During the past hour the mean UV Index recorded at King's Park was 11. The intensity of UV radiation was extreme. The public is advised to avoid prolonged exposure under the sun to prevent damage to skin and eyes.

Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The weather is mainly fine over the coast of eastern Guangdong. An area of thundery showers now affecting the area to the west of the Pearl River Estuary is moving eastwards.

At noon, Severe Tropical Storm Prapiroon was centred about 260 kilometres south-southwest of Okinawa. It is forecast to move north at about 22 kilometres per hour towards the vicinity of the Ryukyu Islands and intensify gradually.

Weather forecast for this afternoon and tonight

Very hot with sunny periods. There will be isolated showers and thunderstorms. Moderate southwesterly winds, fresh offshore at times.

Outlook : A few showers and isolated thunderstorms in the next couple of days. Sunny periods in the middle and latter parts of this week.

Weather Situation:
A southwesterly airstream is affecting the south China coastal waters.

At noon, Severe Tropical Storm Prapiroon with maximum sustained winds of about 90 kilometres per hour near its centre was located near 23.9 degrees north, 127.0 degrees east. It is forecast to move north at about 22 kilometres per hour towards the vicinity of the Ryukyu Islands and intensify gradually.
