At 11 a.m. at the Hong Kong Observatory the air temperature was 31 degrees Celsius and the relative humidity 79 per cent.
During the past hour the mean UV Index recorded at King's Park was 3. The intensity of UV radiation was moderate.

Announcement on Localised Heavy Rain: More than 70 millimetres of rainfall were recorded in Tai Po District in the past 1 hour ending at 10:55 a.m. and may cause serious flooding.

Hot weather might cause adverse health effects. The Observatory advises the public to stay on the alert.

Please be reminded that:

The Thunderstorm Warning has been issued. It will remain effective until 1:00 p.m. today. Isolated thunderstorms are expected to occur over Lantau and New Territories.

The southwest monsoon is bringing showers to the coast of Guangdong. Locally, more than 40 millimetres of rainfall were recorded over Tai Po and Kwai Chung this morning.

Weather forecast for today

Mainly cloudy. There will be showers at first and showers will be heavier with thunderstorms in isolated areas. Hot in the afternoon. Moderate south to southwesterly winds.

Outlook : Hot with sunny periods in the next few days.
