At 3 p.m. at the Hong Kong Observatory the air temperature was 29 degrees Celsius and the relative humidity 85 per cent.
During the past hour the mean UV Index recorded at King's Park was 5. The intensity of UV radiation was moderate.

Hot weather might cause adverse health effects. The Observatory advises the public to stay on the alert.

The Thunderstorm Warning has been issued. It will remain effective until 4:30 p.m. today. Isolated thunderstorms are expected to occur over Eastern Waters of Hong Kong.

Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A southerly airstream is bringing showers to the coast of Guangdong. Locally, showers before noon brought a few millimetres of rainfall over Lantau Island.

At noon, Super Typhoon Maria was centred about 1830 kilometres east-southeast of Taibei. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 20 kilometres per hour towards the vicinity of north of Taiwan.

Weather forecast for this afternoon and tonight

Mainly cloudy with a few showers and isolated thunderstorms. Hot with sunny intervals in the afternoon. Moderate southeasterly winds.

Outlook : A few showers in the next couple of days. It will be very hot midweek this week.

Weather Situation:
The southerly airstream is affecting the south China coastal waters.

At noon, Super Typhoon Maria with maximum sustained winds of about 195 kilometres per hour near its centre was located near 19.5 degrees north, 138.3 degrees east. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 20 kilometres per hour towards the vicinity of north of Taiwan.

Southeast force 4, occasionally force 5. Becoming east to southeast up to force 6.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms.
Moderate seas, becoming rough.
