Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

A broad trough of low pressure brought showers to the coast of Guangdong yesterday. Locally, it was mainly cloudy with a few showers. The weather was hot with sunny periods during the day. Showers brought more than 10 millimetres of rainfall in many places. The broad trough of low pressure is expected to bring unsettled weather to the central and northern parts of the South China Sea this week.

At 11 p.m. last night, Super Typhoon Maria was centred about 1530 kilometres east-southeast of Taibei. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 25 kilometres per hour towards the vicinity of north of Taiwan.

Weather forecast for Hong Kong

Mainly cloudy with a few showers. Isolated thunderstorms at first. Sunny intervals during the day. Temperatures will range between 26 and 31 degrees. Moderate east to southeasterly winds, occasionally fresh offshore.

Outlook : Sunny periods and a few showers in the following couple of days. It will be very hot midweek this week.
