Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The subsiding air in the outer circulation of Super Typhoon Maria is affecting southeastern China. The weather is mainly fine over the region. Meanwhile, showers are affecting the vicinity of the Pearl River Estuary.

At 8 a.m., Maria was centred about 580 kilometres east of Taibei. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 30 kilometres per hour in the general direction of the northern part of Taiwan and Fujian.

Weather forecast for today

Mainly fine apart from one or two showers at first. Hot during the day with a maximum temperature of around 32 degrees in the urban areas, and a couple of degrees higher in the New Territories. Moderate east to northeasterly winds, fresh at first.

Outlook : Very hot with haze tomorrow. The weather will be unsettled in the following few days.

    Weather information for south China coastal waters issued by the Hong Kong Observatory at 9:30 a.m. on 10 July 2018

    Warnings:
    Gale force winds in Nan'ao. Strong winds in Hong Kong adjacent waters, Shanwei, south of Hong Kong and Shangchuan Dao.

    Weather Situation:
    A broad trough of low pressure is bringing unsettled weather to the south China coastal waters.

    At 9 a.m., Super Typhoon Maria with maximum sustained winds of about 195 kilometres per hour near its centre was located near 24.1 degrees north, 126.9 degrees east. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 30 kilometres per hour in the general direction of the northern part of Taiwan and Fujian.

    Hong Kong Adjacent Waters:
    East to northeast force 4 to 5, occasionally force 6.
    Isolated showers and thunderstorms.
    Moderate to rough seas.

    Nan'ao:
    East to northeast force 6 to 7, becoming southwest force 8 later.

    Rough seas, becoming very rough later.

    Shanwei:
    East to northeast force 6 to 7, becoming southwest force 6 to 7 later.
