Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The subsiding air in the outer circulation of Tropical Cyclone Maria is bringing generally fine weather to Guangdong.

Severe Typhoon Maria has made landfall over Fujian. At 10 a.m., Maria was centred about 60 kilometres northeast of Fuzhou. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 25 kilometres per hour across inland Fujian and weaken gradually.

Weather forecast for today

Mainly fine and very hot. Light winds, becoming moderate southeasterly winds.

Outlook : Sunny periods tomorrow. Squally showers in the following few days.

    Weather Situation:
    A broad area of low pressure is bringing unsettled weather to the south China coastal waters.

    At 9 a.m., Severe Typhoon Maria with maximum sustained winds of about 165 kilometres per hour near its centre was located near 26.4 degrees north, 120.0 degrees east. It is forecast to move west-northwest at about 25 kilometres per hour towards Fujian.

    Southeast force 3 to 4.
    Slight to moderate seas.

    Nan'ao:
    South to southwest force 7 to 8.
    Scattered squally showers and thunderstorms.

    Tropical Cyclone Warning

    At 110000 UTC, Severe Typhoon Maria (1808) with central pressure 955 hectopascals was centred within 60 nautical miles of two six point four degrees north (26.4 N) one two zero point two degrees east (120.2 E) and is forecast to move west-northwest at about 14 knots for the next 24 hours.

    Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 90 knots.

    Radius of over 33 knot winds 180 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 47 knot winds 120 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 63 knot winds 60 nautical miles.
    Radius of over 2 metre waves 270 nautical miles.

    Two nine point one degrees north (29.1 N)
    One one four point five degrees east (114.5 E)
    Maximum winds 25 knots.

    The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

    While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
