Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

An intense easterly airstream affected the south China coast yesterday. Meanwhile, a broad trough of low pressure brought thundery showers to the coast of Guangdong and the northern part of the South China Sea. Locally, it was cloudy with showers and squally thunderstorms. Showers were heavy at times in the afternoon. More than 40 millimetres of rainfall were recorded over most parts of the territory. Under the influence of the broad trough of low pressure, there will still be thundery showers over the coast of Guangdong at first today. With an anticyclone aloft strengthening, the weather will improve over the region in the next couple of days.

Weather forecast for Hong Kong (Monday, 16 Jul 2018)

Cloudy with showers. A few squally thunderstorms at first. Showers will ease off during the day and there will be sunny intervals. Temperatures will range between 25 and 30 degrees. Moderate to fresh easterly winds, strong offshore and on high ground at first.

Outlook : Sunny periods in the following couple of days.

    An intense easterly airstream and a broad trough of low pressure are affecting the south China coastal waters. Besides, the area of low pressure over the seas east of the Philippines is strengthening, a tropical cyclone appears to be forming.
