At 11 a.m. at the Hong Kong Observatory the air temperature was 30 degrees Celsius and the relative humidity 74 per cent.
During the past hour the mean UV Index recorded at King's Park was 7. The intensity of UV radiation was high.

According to the present forecast track, a tropical depression will linger in the vicinity of Beibu Wan and the coast of western Hainan Island today. It will maintain a distance of more than 600 kilometres from Hong Kong. It will not pose direct threat to Hong Kong for the time being. The Observatory will closely monitor the evolution of the tropical depression.

Here is the latest weather bulletin issued by the Hong Kong Observatory.

The weather is generally fine over southeastern China.

At 10 a.m., the tropical depression over Beibu Wan was centred about 280 kilometres west-southwest of Haikou. It is forecast to move east slowly and linger in the vicinity of Beibu Wan and the coast of western Hainan Island. Meanwhile, the tropical depression over Luzon Strait was centred about 420 kilometres south-southeast of Taibei. It is forecast to move north-northeast at about 25 kilometres per hour towards the seas east of Taiwan. Severe Tropical Storm Ampil was centred about 140 kilometres east of Shanghai. It is forecast to move northwest at about 30 kilometres per hour across the East China Sea towards the vicinity of Zhejiang to Jiangsu.

Mainly fine and very hot apart from isolated showers. Light winds.

Outlook : More showers in the next couple of days.

Weather Situation:
At 10 a.m., the tropical depression over Beibu Wan with maximum sustained winds of about 55 kilometres per hour near its centre was located near 19.3 degrees north, 107.8 degrees east. It is forecast to move east slowly and linger in the vicinity of Beibu Wan and the coast of western Hainan Island. Meanwhile, the tropical depression over Luzon Strait with maximum sustained winds of about 55 kilometres per hour near its centre was located near 21.5 degrees north, 123.0 degrees east. It is forecast to move north-northeast at about 25 kilometres per hour towards the seas east of Taiwan.

Tropical Cyclone Warning

At 220000 UTC, the tropical depression over Gulf of Tonkin with central pressure 996 hectopascals was centred within 60 nautical miles of one nine point three degrees north (19.3 N) one zero seven point seven degrees east (107.7 E) and is forecast to move east slowly for the next 24 hours.

Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 30 knots.

Radius of over 2 metre waves 90 nautical miles.

Tropical Cyclone Warning

At 220000 UTC, the tropical depression over Luzon Strait with central pressure 996 hectopascals was centred within 60 nautical miles of two one point zero degrees north (21.0 N) one two two point seven degrees east (122.7 E) and is forecast to move north-northeast at about 14 knots for the next 24 hours.

Maximum winds near the centre are estimated to be 30 knots.

Radius of over 2 metre waves 120 nautical miles over southern semicircle, 60 nautical miles elsewhere.

Two five point zero degrees north (25.0 N)
One two three point seven degrees east (123.7 E)
Maximum winds 25 knots.

Dissipated over sea.




The Hong Kong Observatory's tropical cyclone warnings for shipping are issued about one and a half hours after the time of observation. They incorporate additional information derived from surface and upper-air data and may therefore be slightly different from the real-time satellite or radar-based positions given in the hourly bulletins for public.

While the forecast positions and track indicate the most likely future path of the tropical cyclone, they may deviate from the actual path taken by the storm.
